In that moment, when I felt my first child move through my body and come into the world, and as they placed her on my chest and I felt her heartbeat with mine, I knew that providing labor support to other women was going to be my life’s calling.
As a mother of three, and a certified doula for 18+ years, I know how important it is to find just the right person to assist with your labor and birth experience.
You don’t want to invite just “anyone” to the birth of your baby.
I feel that providing doula support to a woman, her partner, and her family, through the labor and birth experience, is extremely valuable to all that attend or participate in the life changing journey; as it will leave an indelible mark on each of them forever.
The value is evident not only in the birth process but in the lifelong friendships that develop right along with the expanding waistline of the mother.
There is value in the trust that builds between one another through the months of questions, concerns, anxiety and the apprehension of what’s to come.
In the end, there is never ending value in the bond that now ties the doula to the family for a lifetime.
I have loved every minute spent with new families and I can’t imagine my life without my Doula Families.
